Founded in 1929 by Harry Shapiro in Baltimore, Maryland, the Globe Poster Printing Corporation, generally referred to as 'Globe', created film and carnival posters that featured artwork and event information. By the 1970s Globe designed music and concert posters that featured iconic DayGlo colors of pinks, greens, and yellows mixed with big bold letters on a screen-printed surface. Over time, the distinct style of Globe posters gained massive popularity., In 1975, Globe Joseph Cicero, Sr. and his sons, Bob and Frank, purchased Globe and began producing posters of Go-Go, rhythm and blues, and rap performances. Globe continued to make posters until 2010 when Bob and Frank Cicero closed the business. In 2011, the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) purchased 75 percent of the Globe Poster collection.
