Abstract
This digital collection includes individual printed maps of the District of Columbia, the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area, and the region. This collection covers a variety of neighborhoods, subjects, and types of maps. The maps are arranged in alphabetical order by title. Please note that digitized real estate atlases (also known as plat books) are in a separate collection on Dig DC (see Maps: Real Estate Plat Books).
The Washingtoniana Map Collection consists of more than 8,000 print and microfiche maps from 1612 to the present documenting the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. These include real estate atlases, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, and many others covering a variety of topics and created by many sources for many different purposes. Real estate atlas holdings include plat books published by Hopkins (1877-1890s) and Baist (1903-67).
